Laser SoftCare is an exciting technique for dentists to treat intraoral soft tissue, in a general or periodontal practice setting. Laser SoftCare consists of removal of the diseased epithelial lining (sulcular debridement) and coagulation utilizing a pulsed free running Nd:YAG laser, and is used in conjunction with subgingival scaling to improve clinical indices including gingival index, gingival bleeding index, probe depth, attachment loss and tooth mobility.Laser SoftCare is indicated for a wide variety of soft tissue procedures including the treatment of periodontal disease ranging in severity from gingival enlargement and gingivitis to serious periodontitis. General practitioners have the personal flexibility to determine the severity of periodontal disease they treat with Laser SoftCare and can choose to refer some cases to their periodontist.
