Clinical Application
of Laser Softcare™ Back

Clinical Application Step by Step

  1. Calculus buildup causes epithelium to become inflamed, infected, and a pocket develops.
  2. Perio probe indicates excessive pocket depth and bleeding.
  3. Ultrasonic scaler used by hygienist to remove calculus on the root surface.
  4. Hand instruments used by hygienist to remove remaining calculus.
  5. Dentist applies laser radiation at 120 µsec pulse width vaporizing epithelial lining, debriding pocket (sulcular debridement), and achieving coagulation. If excessive bleeding is present 300 µsec* pulse width, is used for achieving coagulation.
  6. The tissue is compressed against the root surface allowing a stable clot to form.
